Alvir Hoffmann was the Central Bank of Brazil’s Deputy Governor for Supervision from December 2007 to March 2011, the Chairman of the Association of Banks’ Supervisors of the Americas (ASBA) from October 2008 to November 2010 and the Chairman of the Standards Implementation Group-Validation, of the Basel Committee of Banking Supervision, during the year of 2010.
Since July 2015, he is Deputy CEO and Executive Vice-President of FEBRABAN – Brazilian Federation of Banks. He worked as Chair of Audit Committee of BTG-Pactual Investment Bank, as a member of the Board and Chair of the Banking Advisory Board of the Toronto Centre Leadership in Financial Supervision and as a Senior Advisor for Ernst & Young for Regulatory Practice in Latin America.
His career includes more than 30 years in Supervision. For many years, Mr. Hoffmann served as the Brazilian central bank’s delegate to the working groups of the Basle Committee on Banking Supervision and in the Board of ASBA. As an independent consultant, he worked in programs and missions in several countries for the IMF, the World Bank and the IADB.
Mr. Hoffmann received his BA in Accounting from Paraná State Federal University, Brazil, holds a graduate degree on Internal and External Audit from the AEUDF-ICAT, Brazil and a MBA in Finance and International Business from the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets – IBMEC, Brazil.
